Labor Encouraging Massage

After 39 Weeks

I believe that babies will come into this world when they are ready to come, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t try to encourage them to make their entrance. The last days of pregnancy can feel like weeks and they are often the hardest. You are peeing more and sleeping less than ever and you are SO uncomfortable you feel like you just can’t stand it anymore. That is why I offer a Labor Encouraging Massage to women who are 39 weeks along or farther.

At 39 weeks of pregnancy, I can begin offering massages that MAY help induce labor. I utilize massage, acupressure (no needles), reflexology, CranioSacral Therapy and specific essential oils that can help get your body ready for birth and hopefully encourage your baby to join the world. I can’t guarantee this, but either way, you will feel a lot better after your session.

This is a gentle, safe, non-invasive protocol that can help encourage the onset of labor if your body is ready for it, but it is by no means a “magic eject button”. If your body and baby aren’t ready for it, it will not put you into labor, but it will support your body in preparing for labor. However, if your body is ready, or almost ready, it just might give you that little extra push you need to start your baby in their descent.

What to Expect

Just as in Prenatal Massage I will address your pregnancy-specific and muscular concerns, bringing relaxation and relief to your body. I will massage you with a blend of Labor Encouraging Essential Oils which include oils that are known to help stimulate uterine contractions, open the reproductive system, and help stimulate the production of labor hormones which in turn can help encourage the onset of labor. With this oil, I will also provide a non-invasive stimulating belly rub to encourage the uterus to contract naturally. I will compliment the massage with some energetic work, including acupressure and reflexology that can help ease your body into labor. Even if this protocol doesn’t put you into labor, you will still leave feeling relaxed and more comfortable.
